Museum Visit - National Gallery and Asian Civilization Museum

Monday, July 24, 2017 My lecture, all my classmate and I visited to museum. The first Museum is called National Gallery Singapore. This Museum is the newest and largest museum of modern Singapore. If we are a stuednt, we don't need to pay for the ticket. The special event in the museum for this month is Yayoi Kusama exebihition.

Yayoi Kusama is a Japanese woman, who has an obsessed with polkadot. She has worked in a wide variety of media, such as painting, collage, soft sculpture, performance art, and environmental installations.

From all Yayoi's work in the Exhibition, there 2 from her work that made me really amazed.
First is the "Infinity Mirrored Room"

It's a mirror room with 2m x 2m square and with many round lamps hanging in the side and up of us. The amazing thing from this room is the idea how Yayoi can create an illusion, that make the visitor feel out of space. We can only stay for 20 second in that room.
The Second is "Pumpkin Mirrored Room"

Another cool thing is there 1 white room with some funiture inside. We can stick the sticker that they give to us in anywhere, inside that room. It's doesn't looks messy or bad but otherwise it's looks awesome.

After finish and satisfied with Yayoi Yamamoto Exhibition, we went to the next museum. This museum called Asia Civilisation Museum (ACM). It's so different from Yayoi Exhibition. The event for this month at this museum is also interesting. "Ghost Nets Of the Ocean" is the title for this event. The idea of this exhibition is a recycled rubish and abandoned fishing nets. Created by indigenous and non-indigenous artists from Erub Arts on Darnley Island, Torres Strait, Australia.

The message of this exhibition is to show people to take care of marine environment and
to take a part of it.
