TR Cutting

TR Cutting or "Transformational Reconstruction" is a technique that uses draping, cutting and volume to create a shape with sometimes it's hard in drafting way. TR Cutting also make people have more choice to manipulate dart in various styles, for example 3D shape. This technique is introduced by Shingo Sato. He is a couture designer, who teaches this technique based in Milan and Tokyo. This some type of his technique.

Experiment by myself ( All photo below taken by myself )

1. Experiment in Class

Before I experiment by myself, Jay (my teacher) taught me, what is TR Cutting and how to made it, , and here step of what I have done.

- Prepare the basic bodice block size 6 or 8

- Mark the point of the end of the dart

The first technique was 3D dart manipulation

- Draw a line, and it must be touch 2 of the push point of the dart.

- Give a notch

- Cut the line

- Give allowance

- Sew it

The Second technique was Box technique

- After make the basic bodice, I need to make a 3D box

- Paste the paper Box into the flat area of the bocice (chest area)

- Draw the styleline that you want

- Cut it

- Give an allowance

- Sew it

Experiment in Home

The 3D dart Manipulation

I tried to make curve line, like what I have done in the class before. This time I make the line easier.

The Ballon Technique

Actually for this technique, the first step quiet same with the 3D dart manipulation

- Draw a curve line

- Give a notch

- Make a duplicate for balloon part

- Spread it

- Gather it

- Sew to the garment

The Origami technieque

( First origami experiment )

- This experiment failed, because the shape of the pleats cannot form a nice pleats

- It also show the edges

( Second origami experiment )

For the second time, I tried to make something more simple easier.

- Make a triangle that the point is in the edge with the baed in face the middle of the bodice pattern

- Fold in the 1 direction
