Fabric Manipulation (Capsule collection)
After I finish with my research and did a few sketch I started to think about fabric manipulation. For this fabric manipulation, I inspired by the wave painting by Hokusai. After I did some research to get inspired for the what kind of fabric manipulation, I decided to make something like ruffles, beading, and weaving. Other things that inspired me for make the fabric manipulation is Geisha or women painting during Edo Period.
Here some photo of my fabric manipulation sample:
Inspired by Wave painting
1. Wave of Organza

- This fabric manipulation took a while to make because I need to hand stitch it layer by layer (it quite similar to how we make a ruching ).
- I didn't cut the fabric with fabric scissors, becase it will frey. Icut ot woth solder, so it will butn the edges and look smooth.
- The color that I choose are dark blue and ligth blue to represent the color of wave.
2. Ruffles

- This is one of my favorite fabric manipulation because It's not hard to make, even though it need a while to handstitch.

- I can place it like what I want
- I used 2 different colour fabric

3. Double Weaving

- Use a not- frey fabric such as PVC or Neo-print for the based
- I used orgaza to wave it because I want the dark effect from the based fabric.
4. Weaving

- It's a usual single weaving
but I use organza to weave it.
Fabric Manipulation Inspired by Geisha and women's painting during that time
Geisha and women during that time period always identic with feminine and beauty, which both of that are symbolized by flower.
1. Flower Pleats

- Make a box pleats with 3 cm width.
- Stitch the edges together at the middle.
2. Flower Embroidery
- First I draw the pattern on top of fabric.
- For the based fabri I used organza.

- After that I start to embroider it, start from the middle of the flower, and continue with the other color.

3. Flower Beading

- I use a organza fabric
- Cut the edges with solder, so it won't frey
- double the flower to make it look more 3D
4. Flower laser- cut

- Draw a circle at the middle, and straight line cross the circle
- Cut the straight line until the edge of the circle.
- Stitch it together,

When show it to my teacher, he said that the wrong side of the fabric manipultion is more interesting cause it really show the shape.
